Michel Jonasz - The Return
Heritage of the French chanson
In spite of his poetic, melancholy interpretation, his trademark voice, his unique use of instruments and sophisticated arrangements, Michel Jonasz is by definition a product of carefully considered and ever-changing influences: certainly he knows the blues, the blues and the blues, but also Yiddish songs (recall the Testament d'un poète juif assassiné......) and also the great tradition of the French chanson.
Brassens, Montand, Léo Shoed, Nougaro or the eternal Piaf (more at ease here than in her recent cinematographic cloning), Mister Swing convenes in turn, " La foule", "Les amoureux des bancs publics", “Les feuilles mortes", "Avec le temps" and "Armstrong", for an intensely jazzy escape. There will also be the opportunity to (re)discover the superstar on stage from March. Unparalleled according to some. The songs revisited (recently covered by Voulzy, Gréco, Hardy, Bruel and Delpech) offer a quite personal and inspired second reading, which break from the insipidness of others... A pause or turning point in his career after his album 'éponyme' in 2005? Michel Jonasz continues capture our attention. We hope it lasts!
