Starck recreates Le Meurice, renowned hotel in Paris...

After a night-club in Shanghai, a restaurant in Beijing and more recently Virgin Atlantic's astroport, Philippe Starck is turning his attention to the renowned Hotel Meurice in Paris. The project is no less ambitious than the others: to make this acclaimed hotel soar to greater heights of glamour and conviviality. The results are to be seen in early 2008...
Starck is unique...

Nothing will stop Philippe Starck. After having flirted with the realm of space, the celebrated designer returns to earth with some more prosaic projects, in this case to give soul to a legendary hotel. So as not to impede the creative soul of the designer, Franka Holtmann, General Manager of Le Meurice, has given him free rein. The only imperative, "To enliven the place, to make this jewel a place where everyone loves to stay, to eat, drink or go on a gastronomic journey". In other words, to bring the place to life. .... to work, Mr. Starck !

Starck, Modern Day Prince Charming

News of the refurbishment was announced in July 2007. It will be at least six months before the new public spaces are unveiled. Philippe Starck, prince charming of this modern age, intends to give a loving kiss to the entry lobby, bar and restaurants in need of revival. To be decorated in 18th Century style, in a harmony of beiges, with touches of red and black, glass, metal, velvet, satin and leather, no-one can doubt that there is magic currently at work. With only a few months more to wait....
