The seven lives of jeans
Visionary, Christian Lacroix, predicted in 1994 "a blue world", jeans were destined according to him to invade the depths of our wardrobes. In fact, work, play or fashion addict, the blue-jeans is not ready to give up any ground, and gathers more followers. Deciphering a cloth now eternally fashionable yet that was for a long time relegate to use in uniforms.
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
It was certainly James Dean who started the trend of the American way to wear jeans, but wait a minute, denim is originally from France. Remember when Levi Strauss made his first pair of jeans tough and resistance for the settler of the Wild West. He imported his cloth from Nîmes or de Nîmes in French. As a result of a small linguistic deformation we got denim...Some 150 years later, the French touch of French designers and Europeans continues to revolutionise Los Angeles, the “Mecca of Jeans”. As expensive and chic as a Hermès scarf, jeans has become a veritable sign of individuality. A classic, that will never go out of fashion. As proof, there is not a tabloid that does not gossip each week about the latest slim cut ones of Sienna Miller, or the latest on Kate Moss. With names like Notify, 7 For All Mankind, Blue Cult, Antik Denim, Diesel or Guess, the jean is a pillar of event the most stringent wardrobes. All that is left is how to wear them...
Jeans in their many forms
After many years of long jeans, flared then straight, the diktat of fashion confirms: in 2007, the slim fit is still the basic indispensable of the in-crowd, especially coloured versions of this (dare the red or fluroscent...) whilst the high waist signals its return. Thank you Kate, the high priestess of fashion has brought to an end in one season the low waist cut, in favour of a silhouette outrageously more feminine. Next the loose cut jeans, a baggy-chic, material effects, 7/8 raw 1950's, these jeans are available in stone washed finished. Rid of hang-ups, they break the mould and are equally suited for an evening jet-set and the workplace, resulting in a"cooler" world. Rejoice!
