London - fantastic city of extravagence and contradiction
London is undeniably one of those cities about which a visitor just cannot remain indifferent. Birthplace of the avant-garde, extravagent clichés, and with its many paradoxes, London vibrates as a world unto itself. Both upmarket chic and downmarket bohemian, this city attracts us in all its elusiveness.
Just consider the designers and artists like Vivienne Westwood and Elton John ranked side by side with the typically Victorian traditions of high tea, English judges' wigs, city businessmen in bowler hats and striped trousers, not to mention the red tunics and beaver skin helmets of the guards at Buckingham Palace !
Luxe-magazine has admittedly succumbed to the charm of this cosmopolitan and dynamic capital and we would like to share our favourite spots in the city with all of you, hoping that you will have a chance this year to savour some of the new delights London has to offer. You will be spoilt for choice between the new Alain Ducasse restaurant at the Dorchester, the newly refurbished must-stay-at hotel, the Haymarket, trendy in the extreme, or perhaps Duke's Hotel if you would prefer some deliciously Victorian charm, or why not the Sofitel St. James if its the new modern British spirit you are looking for, all these hotels topped off with a high tea you'll never forget at Brown's.
Access to London from the continent is easier than ever, (a mere 2 hours and 15 minutes from Paris) thanks to Eurostar's new high speed line and swanky new station, St. Pancras.
