Jacob Delafon: Toilets to be proud of!

How far is design ready to go? The last sanctuary of luxury: the toilets! Up until now more utilitarian than object of desire, the toilet is starting to inspire designers, claiming back, and restoring to favour it as a room in its own right. Are we entering a new era?
The Purist Hat Box

It has been a real head-ache for the designers: the cistern spoils the purity of the lines of the toilet and sits there imposing against the wall. Until now, the conscientious architect had to develop ingenious ideas to disguise the location of this part, so bulky but so indispensable. But that was in the past. Jacob Delafon is now revolutionizing the little world of toilets with a new model whose curves recalls the roundness of a hat box. How did he do it? Simply by integrating the water tank into the toilet bowl, liberating the toilet from the wall constraint. This is a revolution!

A toilet where I want!

It is easy to understand the immediate advantage of such an innovation: the toilet has become a design object, with a minimalist and contemporary style. The whole system obviously requires a water inlet and an electric connection but the biggest constraint has now disappeared while the possibilities have become so numerous. The evolution of people's attitudes will do the rest...!
