Amanjena in Marrakech: like a mirage!
At the grandiose Amanjena of the luxury « Aman » chain in Marrakech, you will enter a lush green paradise in a perfectly trimmed park with sparkling basins, arches galore and a row of galleries in perfect symmetry. The inspiration takes its source from deluxe standards of Moroccan tradition, with a total respect for discreteness. Just follow the guide…
The Amanjena, a replica of the Menara gardens
And as soon as you walk in the door of Amanjena, you can’t help but gaze in awe at the vast basin (3000 m²), before looking onto the architecture inside which displays a contemporary and refined version of traditional Morocco. In this oasis of 6 hectares, the hushed sounds of running water give you a feeling of inexplicable tranquillity.
Here architect Ed Tuttle succeeded in recreating a replica of the Menara gardens, adopting the colour of the pink ochre walls of the city walls and by respecting Moroccan culture and tradition. The result meets the high expectations of guests.
The decoration takes its inspiration from the fine Moroccan handicraft tradition, using simple, authentic and natural materials.
Pavilions or villas
Here, we don’t speak about rooms, but rather pavilions or mansions.
Each one is conceived of like a Riad, with a basin or a pool and a garden and outdoor gazebo. Spacious salons and rooms open onto the caressing breezes of the patio in a sober decor, bordering on pure refinement.
Chimneys are ready to offer the warmth of a fire, to make harsh winters milder.
Perfection and sobriety, two qualities that coexist in perfect harmony at Amanjena, exquisitely optimize its charms of a typically Moroccan inspiration.
There is nothing more divine than to relax in the shelter of your own patio, in the mild Moroccan air, with the only background noise being the blowing breeze or the cooing of doves.
The villa with its private swimming pool is our favourite as it provides a temporary but soothing cooling off. The sky that is all yours has just turned the walls blue with its radiant circle of light.
Gastronomy on the agenda
The play of shadows and lights, the flickering candlelight, the restaurants, at nightfall, give off an aura of mystery. The finesse and quality of dishes are awaiting you, regardless of whether you have your heart set on the ThaiRestaurant (the best in Marrakech) with its patio where bougainvilleas and orange blossoms climb in a whirl, intertwining the walls, or rather the typically Moroccan restaurant with its veils and embroidered pillows. If you do have your heart set on "shrimps with cashew nuts and hot sauce", or a with"Moroccan-style chicken stew (tajine) with preserved lemons and almonds", you can be sure too that the full savour of spices will ‘explode’ in your mouth.
You will be dreaming about real Oriental tales. At nighttime, the sound of water is sweet music to your ears. You will of course enjoy sweet dreams.
