Still leader after 40 years

1967, USA: an article published in Vogue represents a breakthrough in the history of beauty care. In answer to the question "Can great skin be created?" dermatologist Norman Orentreich replies affirmatively, setting off a wave of hope for dilated pores and truly visible central areas of the face. The following year, away from the cobblestones, out of Dr. Norman Orentreich’s practice came Basic 3 Temps and with it the promise of a cleansed and moisturized skin. A mini revolution in its own right.
40 years later, Clinique with its simple and medical packaging continues to "cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize" the faces of generations of aficionados of the brand claiming to be "100% fragrance free and allergy tested", still leader in the United States, and this despite intense competition and a growing interest in organic products. A cosmetic legend was born.

Between marketing and innovation

From Basic 3 Temps (in fact, the sworn enemy of very sensitive skins) to the Redness Solution, the history of Clinique has been marked by innovative techniques and ingenious marketing. As early as 1970, it came out with its first "2 in 1" complexion foundation that conceals imperfections while providing UV-protection skin care; 6 years later, Clinique anticipated the needs of men and launched a range of men’s beauty care products, breaking abruptly with the deepest engrained conceptions of masculinity. For reasons that are somewhat obscure, in 1991 the products were tested for weightlessness on board the American space shuttle, whereas in 2007, the brand launched outstanding training courses for its beauticians, hammering in even more the idea of dermatological excellence. In brief, Clinique combines all of the ingredients of a discreet and lasting success story. Rendez-vous in 60 years for the hundred-year-celebration!
