Chamonix, nothing else than mountain!
A word to the wise. In Chamonix, this is a rather touchy subject! Even if this city has become well known for winter sports, when we say Chamonix, we mean mountains. And here we are not talking about contemplative walks either, but gigantic slopes, breathtaking curves…
Since 1741, when two English lords made the first major expedition into the valley, this place has attracted all those who are passionate about high altitudes. Chamonix, the international capital of alpinism, Chamonix has of course become the paradise for sliding sports. Of all kinds. It is on the slopes of Grands Montets that the first monoski appeared, followed by snowboards and a whole series of the most unusual equipment intended to throw the sportsperson full speed on powder snow as soft as silk.
The slopes of the ski resort are so steep, that as soon as you wake up your first desire is to grab your skis and to head quickly over to the slopes, basked under the sun, that reach nearly 2000m high. Obviously, you are not the only one either, as during the daytime, you will hardly find any holiday-makers in the cafés, down in the valley…So what about tomorrow? Ready to hit the ValléeBlanche?
