Glamour and adventure in faraway places: long live Glamping!

At Luxe Magazine, we like it chic and glamorous, especially with a good dose of authenticity and a generous sprinkling of exoticism. That’s why, we have fallen under the charm of the latest travel concept proposed by Terres de Charme and Iles Lointaines. The kind of tour operator we like to see...
Luxury, calm and sensual delight

Camping: I like it a little…. a lot… or with a passion, but you have to admit camping and comfort do not always go together. You love glamour passionately, even madly... Say no more! Then "glamping" is made for you! Admittedly, this awesomely Anglo-Saxon sounding word, but with almost a primitive overtone, is no more than the contraction of the words "glamorous" and "camping", a concept fabricated by our British neighbours, to go along with the times. Offered by Terres de Charmes and Iles Lointaines, this concept means not only an exotic but also a luxurious trip in the land of our dreams.

Canvas chalet or luxury tents

You can have a "glamping" experience in a number of countries where you decide to take up camp: in Zambia for example, you can enjoy the unique experience of staying on two lushly vegetated islands connected by a suspended bridge, situated close to the Siansimba waterfall. There seven canvas chalets (including one "honeymoon chalet") built with natural materials and accessible by wooden footbridges are awaiting you. All chalets overlook the river that you can admire, straight from your own balcony. Or would you rather head for Botswana? It’s up to you! Stanley's Camp, built under some large ebony trees and sausage trees in the southern part of the famous Moremi Game Reserve will surely enchant you. There you can see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippopotamuses, lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild dogs. Stanley's Camp, is a small, luxurious camp with 8 tents mounted on a wooden bridge, enhanced by very sophisticated and traditional decor with a hint of colonial Africa.

Or will it be Morocco or India? No easy choice...

For nostalgic readers of Hermann Hesse’s books, who do not necessarily have the calling to be a monk though, there is Siddapura, dubbed the « Scotland of India » thanks to its dense forests and foggy mountains. The camp and its comfortable tents are scattered throughout this vast coffee, pepper and cardamom plantation. Plus there’s a swimming pool, a boutique, a library and a diversified activity program. Unless you opt for Morocco, and that we can surely understand too! El Khiam Ahlam, is the annex of the famous Dar Ahlam, at the gates of the deserts. Your tent will be installed there just for you: beds with embroidered bed sheets, Nigerian and Mauritanian mats, Berber bedspreads… In the evening, a magical dinner, then in the wee mornings, you will be captivated by the impressive sun rise over the sand dunes while enjoying a breakfast fit for a prince... of the desert that is to say!

More destinations to discover

Terres de Charmes and Iles Lointaines offer many other "glamping" destinations. For example, in Dubai you can stay in the middle of the desert at the Emirates Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa towers, which includes nothing less than 37 Bedouin suites, 2 Emirate suites, 2 royal suites with 2 rooms and a living room and 1 presidential suite, all of the suites have their own private swimming pool. Or what about Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania?... The choice is yours! Why hesitate any longer?
