Grosvenor House, a legendary hotel in London


The Grosvenor House in London, now the Grosvenor House, AJ.W Marriot Hotel, has been newly refurbished, from top-to-bottom. Overflowing with positive energy, this London icon, is ideally located in the heart of London, opposite Hyde Park and on the no less select Park LaneAvenue.


Once upon a time…

The former Grosvenor House used to be the residence of the brother of King Georges III, the Duke ofGloucester during his stays in London.
Purchased in 1806, it was given the name of Grosvenor House, by the family with an eponym name, - Robert Grosvenor, second earl of Grosvenor – in tribute to his family.
Ever since that time, this residence, which became a hotel in 1929, has continued to shine, attracting royalty (Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson ) as well as celebrities like Ella Fitzgerald and Jacqueline Onassis.
It continues to hold prestigious events such as Queen Charlotte’s Birthday Ball or the Royal Caledonian Ball.

Classicism mixed with contemporary tones



Today, the splendour of yesteryear can be seen here and there. Some pieces and works of art have been preciously preserved and scattered throughout the public spaces, rooms and suites.
In the guest rooms, classical-styled furniture has been enhanced with raspberry shades and green celadon wall coverings, sofas with tonic strikes and leather studded armchairs with modern lines. A contemporary atmosphere where we feel good.


TheBord’Eaux, a charming French-style Brasserie

This brasserie orchestrated by Ollie Couillaud has been the great discovery with its cuisine coming straight from South West France.
A very beautiful dining room, overlooking a park whose furnishings, lighting and hundred-year-old woodworks were, for the most part, recovered from old brasseries from Paris and Budapest.
Here, wine has its labels, and its different regions - Pauillac, Saint Julien, Saint Emilion… - are engraved on two high mirrors which frame the entrance doorway.
Its sommelier Thierry passionately explores all the rich selection that the small winegrowers propose to him. This is how he came up with an outstanding and original wine list and the idea to offer some classes on the wines of South West France.

Cuisine that takes the best of regional specialities

The tone is set. As far as the Chef, he also goes all out for quality and carefully selects good, fresh regional products. The result is a natural cuisine that constantly involves looking for good, small producers, French or English, that offer authentic savours.
Tasty salmon, duck confit, very fresh oysters, langoustines cooked to a medium-rare and local specialities with the accents of the South West.


And for family dining occasions you can even book the private Dining Room, « La Pechoune », a cosy atmosphere with hundred-old woodwork, with a view overlooking the wine cellars, and caring and friendly service.
