Grande Utopia EM: Going beyond the wall of sound...

No less than 2 meters for 260 kg: that is the audio and architectural promise of the third-generation Grande Utopia loudspeaker from Focal. Art at its best.

A French lesson...

Alleluia! A brand that is 100% French for a change, and located in Saint Etienne, is revolutionising the little universe of sound worldwide! "Dream-like loudspeakers", "the ultimate in loudspeakers", "the best loudspeakers in the world"...:  such an explosion of superlatives can be heard with the spectacular launching of the Grande Utopia EM, the third of this name at Focal, most likely after the incredible Be version and the results of a series of rather amazing innovations, starting with the woofer and its electro-magnetic engine. As audiophiles will recall, despite a great deal of work on high frequencies, the previous model had a few snags to overcome in terms of low sound quality. This problem has now been resolved thanks to an absolutely remarkable solution to reproduce low frequencies. The result is an impeccable sound with the possibility of adjusting frequencies for each range (more than 1,450 combinations are possible!). And now you can have the incredible impression of having the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France right in your own living room...

An acoustic vertebral column

A technological wonder, a brilliant design! The Grand Utopia EM does much more than provide us with an exceptional audio performance, it comes with its magnificent adjustable acoustic sculpture. Conceived of as a jointed vertebral column, the loudspeakers adapt very closely to the set-up of any room by adjusting the vertical directivity of medium and high sound pitches. True, it takes 16 hours of assembly-time for an optimal set-up, but that is without a doubt the price to pay (even over 130 000 €, still...) to lay claim to a sound with a rare fidelity. You got it right. It has everything it takes for music!
