Must-see addresses in Buenos Aires

In Buenos Aires, the metropolis located on the border of  la Plata River, tango, literature, gastronomy, music and hotel boutiques of charm or large hotels make for a happy mix. Here everything is possible at any time of day or night.
This mix of European seduction and Latin charm attracts all visitors. Luxe Magazine has noted down for you several of its favourite addresses  !

Bobo Hotel : Bohemian-Bourgeois style

Bobo, a reference for Bohemian style, a small hotel located at Palermo Viejo, marked by the originality of its 7 rooms, each one reflecting the artistic trend of the 20th century. Between the techno, the Classical, the Art Deco or the Argentinean, a suite with its private whirlpool and its balcony, the choice is not that easy. If you can’t choose than take the Pop Art room, which gives you a glimpse of the world of Andy Warhol or the Minimalist, as indicated by his name, offering a refined and immaculate decor. On the ground floor, a small white room overlooks the street that offers breakfasts and on the other side, the black and white restaurant that stretches out lengthwise opens onto a small patio. Chef Nicolas Tomaselli combines a cuisine blending Argentinean, Mediterranean influences with Asian touches. A well-situated address, a calm oasis, in the heart of the trendy district of Palermo.

Legado Mitico : like at home

You have to look presentable and ring at the door to get in. The Legado Mitico is worth the detour. Situated in Palermo Viejo, in a calm district, a hand’s throw from trendy boutiques, it opted for a discreet allure. In the style of a private residence, the atmosphere exists at Pampa d’Argentine. On the ground floor, different small living rooms in an open space take place around a central chimney, the ideal place for a tea at the end of the afternoon; opposite, a beautiful library runs along the wall, displaying precious objects. Sofas in chocolate leather, Chesterfield, BKV chairs in cow hide, wooden parquets and a bar where you can have a short little snack, basically make up the main ingredients of this warm decor. As for the 11 rooms, they are laid out on two floors and are dedicated to local celebrities: El Pinto, Eva Peron, José Luis Borges
It is rare for this kind of a hotel to find such spacious and well arranged rooms; each one is personalized with several old objects like leather saddles that are used as a bedside table and an old wall clock. The grey-cement laid patinated floors add a modern touch.

Malabia House: bright and peaceful

Without going as far as to say, here you can go to make a peaceful retreat, the Malabia House is still vibrating from its past era. A former convent transformed in a hotel, peaceful and withdrawn, it still has several vestiges, mainly Madonnas hidden in wall niches of the small indoor patios. Two very cosy living rooms, lend themselves well to relaxing there in the afternoon and a small family dining room, with a vegetal trompe-l’œil on the wall, invites you for a breakfast or a snack. The 15 « cells » of which some of them do not have bathrooms in the bedrooms, have kept their simple and bright aspect, with  comfort as a plus, but have the particularity of having one window on the hall, lit by different indoor patios. Best to choose the one on the floor, with its balcony with its view over the small, animated street. Here you will be in a bed & breakfast.

Sofitel

For those who swear only by a French trademark, then Sofitel is the right address for you. Located in the picturesque district of Retiro, this neo-classical deco is signed Pierre-Yves Rochon. The Bencich Tower, an art deco building created by a fabulous rich connoisseur, Nicolas Mihanovich, was the highest building in the city in 1929, with its 80 metres high. Bought by the Accor Group in 2000, it became BuenosAires in 2002.  A pretty steel glasswork for the lobby and a Botticino marble floor, a beautiful library accompanied by its chimney, Art Déco elements and warm tonalities- ochre, yellow and black – Argentinean leather, sober furnishings that are omnipresent in the 144 rooms and the common areas. Concerning the restaurant, Le Sud,  shows a preference for Mediterranean cuisine, without any fanfare, in a sophisticated, but intimate setting.

Home Hotel : Scandinavian lines

Situated in a little bit of a Bohemian district of creators, the Home Hotel is hidden behind an ordinary façade, without a grandiose entranceway. Created by film producer Tom Rixton and his spouse Patricia, financed by producer Flood and directed by local architects Rodrigo Cunill and Juana Grichener, the overall view is aerial, with purely Scandinavian lines. Surprisingly, in this small hotel of 17 rooms, there is a beautiful swimming pool with an indoor garden and a very beautiful suite with a mezzanine, and a private swimming pool as well. And the icing on the cake, is a very animated bar, the possibility for dining and even a small spa. An address we can recommend !
