Evian Royal Resort: a temple of luxury
The light pierces through the clouds, giving an aspect of the Milky Way. The blue of the sky mingles with the indigo of the lake, and the majestic Royal Evian Hotel stands in all its aristocratic glory, spread out like an elegant fan in a 19 hectare park, on the south bank of lake Leman. Elected " The Best Spa in Europe ", its legendary history and its secular traditions help to explain how this hotel has defied the wrath of time, continuing to attract Royalty, artists and families alike. The ultimate charm of this hotel is its intimate proximity to the lake.
A lady with aristocratic airs
Overlooking the city of Evian, the Royal Evian plays the aristocratic lady, with its Belle Epoque decor and its richly decorated rooms. Domes and arches give the building an impressive height offering the wonderful impression of space.
The lounges follow on from each other in a row, armchairs and deep sofas set in front of the idyllic panorama of the blue lake, the rare wood, the Ceylon lemon tree, the Cuban mahogany and rosewood are pleasures to the eyes. The blue and gold frescoes of Gustave Jaulmes and
Adrien Karbowsky dress the ceilings, adorning them with refined colours.
Outdoors the blue of the swimming pool disappears into that of the sky!
This establishment has the charm of another era. Silence is golden and the landscape overlooking the lake lulls you into a dreamy state of mind.
The most beautiful hotel in the world!
The nostalgic presence of in temporal personalities such as Sacha Guitry, Aga Kahn, Greta Garbo, Diaghilev linger in the air. The beginnings lie in the eighteenth century, when the King of Sardinia tasted the relaxed rhythm of life at Evian and the benefits of its water. But it is in 1905, that the real story began, when the mineral water company decided upon constructing the most beautiful hotel in the world.
The architect Jean Albert Hébrard was commissioned, and though not an easy task, the challenge was accomplished in 1909. It was dedicated to King Edouard VII, who died before the opening, a suite is named after him. In 2007, the approach of the centenary announces the revival of the hotel. The objective being to reinvent the luxury of the hotel without losing its charm and soul.
