Joël Robuchon: the 26-star chef

Elected "meilleur ouvrier de France" in 1976, "chef of the year" in ‘87, "Chef of the century" in 1990 by the Gault et Millaut, having obtained 3 stars over 3 years for his restaurant Jamin in ‘84, Joël Robuchon, son of a stone mason, born in Poitiers, has become a world renown chef who continues to amaze us. What is your definition of luxury?


Being free and able to do what you want to do and when you want to do it. This is happiness, because luxury is not material.


 


The luxury you’re not able to resist?


I like everything electronic: IPad, IPhone...
but I also like watches: Chaumet, Hublot, Cartier.


 


Why do you always wear black?


Because it’s easy and at the same time chic and elegant! However you will notice that the decoration of my ateliers is red and black, (day and night).


 


What is according to you the summit of luxury?


Wearing something that is not fashionable.


 


What is your favorite wine?


The NPU Champaign of Bruno Paillard, a non-vintage dry champagne, a Pape Clément and Dom Pérignon.


 


What is your favorite car?


I adore BMW’s technology. For me the BMW 750 Sedan is a real marvel. Bentley, Rolls-Royce.


 


What’s your favorite dish?


It’s depending on the product and the moment. I like a slice of sausage in good company and of course the truffle and potato which made me famous.
