Sinai Bay Club Med in Egypt: the crossroad of cultures

The Upgrading of the Club Mediterranée, intended and supported by its CEO Henri Giscard d'Estaing, continues in Egypt and seems to be the key to success. Objective: a stylish and sportive family holiday! The new Club Sinai Bay, 4 and 5 tridents, has set its cap on Taba, Egypt. Renowned for its desert landscape, wild beauty and clear waters, this village is located at the crossroad between Israel (at 5 min), Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Directly below the ochre, stone mountains, facing the sea, this new Club on 66 acres of land features the Moroccan inspired architecture designed by Didier Lefort.

66 acres flanked by a 600 yard stretch of private beach

In a panorama of mauve and ochre tone rocks and the azure blue colour of the sea, the Sinai Bay Club appears almost theatrical in a well-preserved bay covering 66 acres of land, flanked by a 600 yard stretch of private beach. Didier Lefort, the architect, was inspired by the immense cultural wealth of Upper Egypt for this site, because of its strong and powerful character, in a country where history and architecture occupy an important place. "In my eyes, Upper Egypt has a very contemporary feel that fits well in our time, hence the idea of creating a cubic architecture, pure and modern while retaining charm and soul". In the heart of the Sinaï, this new Club Med Resort provides exceptional opportunities to discover the region’s famous sites, such as St Catherine’s Monastry and the troglodyte city of Petra in Jordan and is an ideal location for exploring the fabulous underwater life of the Red Sea.

A village in "Medina" style.

A multitude of "Kasbah" flat-roof houses in ochre, beige, white or saffron tones were constructed along the beach and inside the "Medina". Brick red tones evoke earth and the rocks surrounding the village and the shades of beige remind you of the desert. In a clever way, Didier Lefort designed a real village with back-alleys providing a refreshing shade when the sun is at the zenith. Relief facades, sculpted balustrades, bow-windows and shady terraces of light wooden structures enhance the volumes.

Rooms and Suites

Each small building houses rooms for couples and families, featuring a mini terrace. With a sober decoration and the bathroom opening up to the bedroom with sliding walls. All terraces have sea or garden view. The icing on the cake is the 5 tridents complex in the middle of the 4 tridents village, featuring duplex suites of 92 m² with 60 m² terraces, private gardens and a private swimming pool. The Spa, signed Cinq Mondes, on 3 levels, offers a variety of well being treatments in a zen universe. White walls enlivened with lanterns and black sculptures, large bay windows for natural light: an invitation to a complete relaxation.

A Club Med pure, modernised and timeless

The credo of Didier Lefort translates itself in the perfection of the Village of Sinai Bay: refined, simplifed, modern while keeping the essence of a culture, eliminating all fireworks that might create an ostentatious effect.
Thus the common areas such as bar, reception, lobby, restaurant in red, white and beige shades display the know-how of the local craftsmen as well as the culture of the country. Perfectly integrated with the wild beauty of the site, Didier Lefort has created a sophisticated paradise that becomes magic at night. A new Club Med is born!

My opinion:

An excellent Club with an amazing architecture, I would say even theatrical.
The extra: 600 yards of beach, nautical activities, the 5 tridents complex with its spacious suites along the sea, 5 swimming pools, the Spa Cinq Mondes with a professional team of therapists. There are still some small improvements to make for understanding English, but this is just the start.
Clever, when arriving at the club you put your clock an hour back to benefit longer from the sunshine. It’s a pity that sunset is so early (at 4:40 pm) when you still want to enjoy the beach and its transparent waters.
Perhaps they should put the clock back 2 hours instead of 1 hour in winter?
Otherwise, as usual, the GO’s are smiling, available and helpful. Full of energy and enthusiasm, they are ready to move mountains.
If you stay a week, I suggest you to make two trips: to Petra and the monastery of St. Catherine. The journey might be a little tiring, but you will have 5 days to relax, and two incredible places not to be missed.
The Club focuses on the family and provides a multitude of activities.
A great winter destination to avoid the cold.
Warning: very hot in Summer, strictly reserved for those who love high temperatures!
The Airport is half an hour drive from the Club.

Taba
Is an Egyptian village close to the north end of the Gulf of Aqaba and the Israeli border. Its population never exceeded a handful of Bedouins.
Taba was the last part of land to be handed back to Egypt in 1989 by Israel after an international commission had ruled on the Taba position. Taba has an airport
