Bar Boulud next stop: London

After New York, it’s up to London, at the Mandarin Oriental, in the heart of Knightsbridge that Bar Boulud has opened its doors.


It’s the second Bar and especially the 11th restaurant named after the Three-star chef Daniel Boulud, originating from the Lyon region, trained in France by the legendary chefs Roger Vergé, Georges Blanc and even Michel Guérard. In short, when Daniel Boulud opens a new address, the city’s gourmets are on the lookout! After its success in the Big Apple, it’s London’s turn to discover the French culinary heritage and New York spirit that go hand in hand in Bar Boulud. The decoration (zinc topped bar, leather, oak and sleek open kitchen) resembles its big NYC brother as well as the menu: the best of charcuterie (based on pork, beef, veal, rabbit…) with a true French bistro spirit.



A la Carte …

When we take a look at the menu, while watching the chefs at work at the charcuterie bar running along the edge of the open kitchen, we discover a bistro menu based on seasonal, bourgeois French cooking that includes dishes such as white sausage, grilled Sea Bass, braised Rabbit ragout and Coq au vin as well as a selection of terrines and pâtés made on site under the direction of acclaimed charcutier Gilles Vérot. The restaurant also has an impressive selection of wines with a focus on Burgundy and the Rhône valley, by the glass or by the bottle, featuring old world wines as well as new world selections made in the Rhône or Burgundy spirit. A selection of beers is also available on draft from small, artisanal producers and continental microbreweries. With its impeccable service, Bar Boulud has everything to charm the English!

My opinion:


A good London address, in the shopping district, reasonably priced. An eclectic clientele, open all day. With an impressive wine menu, also proposing an interesting selection of wines by the glass. The sommelier, a passionate, will be happy to advise you. Bar Boulud is defenitely one of our favorites.
