Porsche 911 Carrera: Living the dream…
Boasting an impressive rate of car ownership and a technical specification that is constantly being optimised, the 911 is continuing its nearly 50 year long campaign of seduction.
The thrill of the chase
The 911 Black Edition, available in either coupé or cabriolet, was introduced in spring 2011 in Stuttgart and is based on the standard Carrera with its 3.6-litre flat-six engine and 345 bhp. Fully equipped with all the special technical specifications of the Carrera – PDK dual-clutch gearbox and seven speed manual transmission – the 911 is capable of remarkable performances such as going from 0 to 62 in 4.7 seconds and a consumption rate of less than 10 litres to 62 miles. However, the Black Edition’s real exclusivity lies in its price and limited nature: just 1911 of them will be made.
Design, beauty and pleasure
The 911 Black Edition is available in plain black or basalt black metallic for the cabriolet version. With a predominantly back fabric hood, the 911 boasts two-tone 19-inch 911 Turbo II wheels that perfectly match the elegance and sobriety of the black bodywork and provide a glimpse of the brakes clamped by aluminium, black-finished, four-piston callipers. Black Edition lettering on the stainless steel door entry guards highlights the vehicle’s superior quality and accentuates the merits of a sports car. The interior is in keeping with the various black hues of the bodywork, whilst the top of the range leatherwork of the seats, partially sheathed in high quality black leather perfect the ensemble. Black really is beautiful…
