The London Design Festival, a decade of design
After the excitement and the testosterone of this August’s Olympics, London will open the 10th edition of it’s now famous London Design Festival. A festival that has grown over the years and that is now unavoidable.
The world’s creative capital
The London Design Festival is a key constituent of London’s Autumn creative season, alongside London Fashion Week, Frieze Art Fair and the London Film Festival. Over 350,000 visitors from all around the world made it to last year’s edition to enjoy more than 60 shows and events. This year’s manifestation is expected to be even bigger with massive projects all around the city. The renowned design school Central St Martins will of course participate and host the first edition of the Global Design Forum, thus starting this 10th edition. Will follow two weeks of exhibition everywhere in the city, massive projects in public spaces such as the Sound Portal on Trafalgar Square. The BE OPEN Sound Portal will be an immersive space in the center of the square that will take visitors on an intriguing journey. Many artists and studios will collaborate to create exhibitions and installations all around the city, such as Rolf Sachs, Rogers Stirk Harbour, 100% Design and many more. A 2012 edition of the London Design Festival that will stand up to its reputation and make London shine once more during this exceptional year for the British capital.
