Love in Montmartre my love

Montmartre has always been bragging about its romantic reputation, but had yet to get a cosy nest to shelter the more or less true passions: mission accomplished! Just around Place du Tertre, the Montmartre mon amour hotel got a totally romantic remodelling, thus gaining two more stars (4 in total) and a great chunk of soul… let’s get a look.

Je t’aime moi non plus

The hot love letters between Victor Hugo and Juliet Drouet, the voluptuous liaison between Charles Baudelaire and Jeanne Duval, the quiet love between Paul Gauguin and Tehura, or the tumultuous affairs between Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, all those kinds of love, whether tormented or comforting, are now summed up in 24 wonderful rooms, redesigned by the ambiance specialist Sandrine Alouf. Enlarged photographs, writings, light and mirror reflections, sophisticated fabrics, passion red from floor to ceiling, everything here speaks the language of love. It’s an invitation to sweet abandon and craziness for those who aren’t in favour of the minimalist decoration. The discreet, efficient service itself matches everything you can expect in this a little bit overstuffed space. But we are in Paris, where space is very limited despite the hotel’s four stars.

A confidential spot

« This is the Parisians’ Montmartre »: the hotel is nestled behind a discreet façade, far from the city noises. But its clientele is not exclusively made of adulterous loves or wandering Parisians, although it’s such a wonderful, romantic and a “so French” fantasm. The Montmartre mon amour hotel should therefore seduce a large, international public.
