Let’s go to the Island of Mauritius this Year!
If you think Mauritius Island is only for Winter honeymooners, you have got it wrong! For in Summer, this Indian Ocean paradise island particularly suits families, thanks to a large panel of excursions and activities for little ones and beyond!
A taste of paradise…
The island really looks like the typical exotic postcard : white sand, lazy palm trees, turquoise lagoon waters ; it’s the epitome of the ideal seaside stay. Nearly no jet-lag, a sunny 25° weather, non-stop flights from Shanghai, top of the line medical facilities, shallow waters for a safe swim, and of course the legendary warm smiling welcome. Far from the usual stereotypes, you can find some newlyweds enjoying their new life, but also entire families busy with sweet idleness, or visits, or one of the numerous activities, on land or sea.
Get ready!
There are so many funny activities for young people it’s hard to pick up one. So, you had better choose yours in advance, according to your favourite themes:
For nature lovers, go straight to Casela, a large 14 hectare park with birds, lions, zebras, giant tortoises, apes, etc. running free in the forest. Or you can be more adventurous and walk the longest rope bridge in the Indian Ocean! Food lovers can choose the Aventure du sucre, a small eco-museum telling the colonial history of the island as well as its sugar plantations: discover the sugarcane fields, and taste the different sugars and rum if you are of age! If you dream of walking among banana trees, palmtrees and giant bamboos, in company with one hundred giant tortoises, geckos, macaques, iguanas and eels, go to the Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes, located in the south of the island. From there, you can proceed to the Parc Aventure de Chamarel, where you can give a nice imitation of Tarzan by hopping from one tree to the other, with a harness, though, but nobody will tell!!! Then you can spend half a day in the Val Nature Park, certainly one of the most picturesque sites in the island, thanks to its forests, lakes, streams, natural pools, ponds with fresh water fish, plus the forest whole population of apes, birds and deer. Exciting!
