Southern Ocean Lodge
Located on Kangaroo Island, in Southern Australia, the Southern Ocean Lodge is the first real luxurious, eco-lodge of Australia and the cream of the crop of Baillie Lodges. The Southern Ocean Lodge maintains a policy to safeguard the environment, guaranteeing minimal impact to the coast and the full discovery of surrounding areas thanks to the use of bridges that connect the lodge to its Southern Spa and its private beach.
Accommodations :
Located along limestone cliffs which dominate the coast, the 21 modern suites of the Southern Ocean Lodge have an impressive view overlooking the Southern Ocean. The bedrooms have a king-size bed, a living room, a bathroom overlooking the sea and the private terrace.
Several categories are proposed including the Osprey Pavilion which, from its private terrace, offers a panoramic view over the coast as well as an outdoor basin which seems to extend to the ocean.
Restaurants :
Directed by Chef Alastair Waddell, the Southern Ocean Lodge Restaurant draws on fresh, local products in season to enable clients to discover the highly reputed gastronomy of South Australia.
The island is known for its seafood, goats cheese and its pure Ligurian honey, which can only be found in this part of the world. The quality of the products are reflected in the fine dining of the lodge.
The drink list presents a wide choice of fine wines and beers from Kangaroo Island and Southern Australia offering a real selection of the regional viticulture.
Spa :
On the cliff, the Southern Spa is a peaceful oasis of quiet. The Spa menu offers plenty of cares to the clients. The Spa only uses natural products by Li'Tya as well as traditional massages process as learnt by aboriginals. Some natural beauty products created on the island are also used: mineral salt, pink clay, eucalyptus, lavender et Ligurian honey. The hammam and relaxation room allows the clients to escape and regain strength.
