Traveller and philosopher
Any traveller at heart knows that there is a sort of spontaneous camaraderie amongst travellers, a certain kind of a spirit, or even wisdom… The “Petite philosophie du voyage” (A small bit of philosophy for travelling) collection from the Transboréal publications, thus compiles small texts that are both theoretical and subjective, that stimulate reflection in three distinct areas : nature- the environment and our planet ; personal – self-fulfilment and wellness ; spiritual – greater communion with the world : The same applies to the works dedicated to Bonheurs de l’aquarelle, Petite invitation à la peinture vagabonde (Happiness in aquarelle painting. A small invitation to the vagabond painting)…
Magic in the creation
A Watercolour artist is like no other artist. As a traveller laden down with few belongings, he can land just about anywhere, haphazardly during his walks in nature, and just start to paint. Then magic comes about, meaning the very one that is taking place with each stroke of his paintbrush ! This is how an author describes the very first time that she tried out this technique: "Through this interplay between free water and pigments, an entire landscape emerges under my eyes, a whole world that I was the initiator of, the god creator, who with the stroke of a dark line could precipitate the fall of the angles, or thanks to a drop of water that fell from my little finger, could add to the horizon, the promise of a sun spell".
Seeing the world from another perspective
Watercolour, first of all, requires lightweight supplies: several tubes of colour, a notebook for drawings, pencils, brushes... Sitting on a stone or on the edge of a low wall, the watercolour artist, so-to-say, blends in with the scenery that surrounds him or her to put to paper subtle impressions, far removed from consumer gestures of pressing the switch of a digital camera... "Slow down your pace, let the landscape emerge under your paint brush and become a concrete memory of a journey that we have gone on and in this way prolong this journey into our imagination ". Through this gesture, we view the world differently and become attentive to lands explored in a personal and sensitive manner, in addition this enables us to experience differently the moment of their discovery. An exploratory journey to some extent.
