Croatia by Luxe Magazine

Will this become the new Eldorado of tourism? Since a couple of years already, Croatia managed to seduce tourists eager to discover its beautiful beaches, but also its rich historical and cultural heritage. The only problem is the vast choice!

Makarska, or the dream of luxury tourism

With its long pebble beach, the lighthouse of Saint Peter in Makarska offers breathtaking views of the Biokovomountain on one side and the islands of the south coast on the other side. Built in 1884 about 10 meters from the beach, the lighthouse is surrounded by a natural rock beach, perfectly positioned to get a great suntan. Makarska is one of the most renown touristic destinations on the Adriatic Sea: besides its beaches, this area offers cultural as well sportive programmes all year round, including the night! But Makarska, also means skiing: the Biokovo mountain, emerging from the sea, offers a spectacular view of the coast and hinterland. It’s on these slopes that the first ski station of Dalmatia will open shortly: snow cover as from 1000 metres and this until June! Quite something to offer the visitors of the Makarska coast; in just one day they can go skiing and go to the beach!

Croatia, is good for your health!

The Island and the town of Pag will soon enrich the touristic offer with a thalassotherapie and treatment with the remedial mud of Pag. In between two mud baths, you can take a stroll around the island, famous for its many artisanal products, like the famous lace work from Pag – a couple of centuries old tradition- and the sea salt which is extracted here in a traditional way. But the island is also known for the renowned olive grove in the town of Luna with its 80.000 wild olive trees. This is the only place in the Mediterranean basin where wild olive trees can still be found in their natural surroundings.

Slavonia by GPS

In Slavonia there is so much to see that it is hard to mention everything. Let’s highlight a couple of places that will surely seduce you. There is Erdut, a town amidst vineyards, where you can start your wine tour and where you can visit its museum in the near future. This wine region is one of the best in Slavonia, where wine has been produced since Roman times. The trip would not be complete without a trip to Zagreb.
