IPhone 5: a golden apple?
On this side, 5 million addicts staying in line for hours to snatch it or pre-order it before anyone else. On the other side, those who stayed more aloof before yet another version of the Smartphone that changed the world. Time now for an assessment:
RECORD SALES… ALMOST!
Although the IPhone 5 appearance on the market got mixed feelings and rewiews, it reached record sales with 5 million phones sold within 3 days, as Iphone 4 had reached 4 millions for the same time period. A rather encouraging figure, but well below expectations: 8 to 10 millions for the first week. So, is it a success or not? Only the future will tell. If 50 million pieces are sold till Xmas, Cupertino’s company will collect its bet. Meanwhile, discover the latest phone: thinner and lighter by 20%, wider screen -3.5 to 4”-, coming with the elegant 1136X646 Retina screen, perfect for video viewing. Its sleek aluminium design puts it in an even higher class, although it might scratch easily. But that would be a nice excuse to get another one, wouldn’t it?
PROS AND CONS
As to technical innovations, easier surfing, quicker downloading, easy sharing on Facebook, panoramic function -240°- on the camera. But the battery isn’t long-lasting and no Google maps are available, Apple working with the not-so-performing Tom-Tom on that one. Whatever available 3D maps are breathtaking, but they cover so few cities…
